A commissioning is a ceremonial joining of a ship and her namesake. Our committee seeks to give the Indianapolis a grand send off as she joins the world’s most powerful Navy and takes her place among the fleet. Funding is necessary in providing a financial means to conduct a proper commissioning of the ship and to build a strong relationship with and support for the crew.
Join us in honoring the USS Richard G. Lugar and her crew — this is your chance to become an honorary plankholder of the newest named ship recognizing the legacy of former Indiana Senator and Indianapolis Mayor Richard G. Lugar.
